Each calendar year is assigned a Tarot card according to Numerology (2+0+2+5=9). The Hermit is the ninth card in the Major Arcana of Tarot.

I was inspired by The Tarot Diagnosis podcast to take a deeper dive into The Hermit and how to work with it in the coming year (my initial thought was just cool cool cool let’s all retreat into our respective caves and create things we may or may not eventually share, which appeals to the part of me that isolates but is probably not what the Universe ultimately wants for me or for any of us).

Let’s take a look at this card and see what reveals itself. I see someone in the coziest corner with creature comforts: A book, a cat, warm socks, plants. They are sitting on a blanket that seems to turn in to a tent of sorts so they can retreat even further within their retreat if they desire. They can see out, too. Snow capped mountains and full moon remind them that there is life beyond this nook, and is available when they are ready.

I invite you to work with The Hermit in 2025 as the ultimate way to fill your emotional and spiritual cup. Once filled, you can enter the world and all it’s complexities knowing this nook is there for you at any moment. A safe inner refuge is a breath away. May this make our time in the fray more sustainable, pleasant even, because we have this to return to.
