The Five of Cups represents disappointment, loss, and/or regret. While full cups signify hope, opportunity and fulfillment, we see she has three overturned cups that are spilling onto the ground. Sometimes when this card comes up it makes me think of the phrase, “Expectation is a planned resentment.” We often have very black and white thinking around how we think things SHOULD go, or we have a low frustration tolerance. When things don’t go our way or we encounter an obstacle, we are quick to fold up on ourselves and self-sabotage. NOTICE she has two giant, full cups above her, but she is focused on what she doesn’t have. In a reading, this card invites us to wipe those tears and reassess. Do not give up mid process! Hiccups are a part of the journey. Keep going!
