Of all the suits in the Minor Arcana, I find Swords to be the most challenging (perhaps it’s the lack of Air in my birth chart, or the fact that my Air placements are in my 4th, 8th & 12th houses which are tender for me). Swords represent our intellect, our thinking, and how we communicate based on those. I find my mind to often be a dangerous neighborhood and not the most accurate narrator, and we battle to get out of our heads and into our bodies and heart centers. I take whatever my head says with a giant grain of salt.
The Three of Cups signifies loneliness. Heartbreak. Emotional strife. When I see this card come up, I invite the client to make friends with that heartbreak. When our heart is broken, there are wounds to be healed, and light to be let in. Hold yourself so tenderly and know that the greatest love you can receive is from the divine, and the divine is YOU. Release is the medicine, whether it is a good cry with a movie, screaming into a pillow, a boxing class, or a weekend away to get quiet.
