Today is my solar return, which is on our near our birthday. The solar return happens when the transiting sun lands on the exact degree of your natal sun. One of my offerings is Solar Return Tarot Readings with astrology natal chart influence, and I thought I would share what the Tarot portion looks like.

Below is a seven card Solar Return spread. Another popular option is a twelve card spread to cover the following 12 months, up until your next solar return. Readings at this sacred time help to focus our efforts and get clarity on how to move forward with the energies we will encounter so we can set the most powerful intentions.

Card One. Energies Leaving: Four of Coins. This invites me to release control, especially around financial or resource worries. I am surrounded by support and abundance and my trying to control those areas does not serve me.

Card Two. Energies Coming In: Knight of Wands. A charming champion of creation. This is youthful energy coming in that can attract what I desire. I should be mindful of burning out or oversharing. Harness that energy!

Card Three. What Will Influence Me: Four of Swords. Recovery. Coming out of my 12th house profection year, where I focused on shadow work, the integration of that healing will propel me into this 1st house profection year (year of self/identity/creation).

Card Four. What Do I Need to Let Go Of: Ten of Swords. Bottoming out. I read this as not falling back to self-defeating beliefs that I will not succeed. That I am not qualified. That I am not worthy.

Card Five. Influence: Love & Relationships: Seven of Wands. Conviction. I have been married for 16 years and we are entering into working together more intimately, so I view this card as saying continuing to choose this relationship and this partnership.

Card Six. Influence: Work & Career: King of Swords. A solar, intellectual energy. This card invites me to view my work and career objectively, to feel a bit less and think a bit more. Just do it energy, but grounded in structure and calculated decision making.

Card Seven. Influence: Health & Spirituality: Two of Wands. Personal power. This card represents someone on the precipice of a big adventure. She wants it, she’s almost out the door, but she’s looking over her shoulder, having second thoughts. I see this as an invitation to say yes to something I haven’t done before when it comes to health and/or spiritual pursuits.
